History
Our story begins in 2006 when Dr. Gavin McDowell became an associate for a well established optometrist who had been practicing in the Newport area for over 30 years. Seeing the potential to establish a community-based, family-friendly practice, Dr. McDowell purchased the practice and began laying the ground-work for our company. In 2007, a similar practice was purchased in the Pocahontas area and Dr. Amy Tolbert joined our company. In 2012, both offices re-launched as CustomEyes Vision Care so that a singular identity could be established revolving around the customization and personalization of quality eye wear and eye care. Since the reintroduction of our company, we have seen amazing growth which prompted our relocation to larger facilities in our Pocahontas office to Broadway Street as well as a new building being constructed for our Newport office on Malcolm with an anticipated completion in the Fall of 2019.
